St. Peter's Neighbourhood Association is one of 7,200 organisations in the North East's Third Sector. The Sector comprises of voluntary and charity organisations.

In the past year, there were 154,000 North East volunteers donating 11 million hours. Their collective work being valued at between £91m and £148m to the economy.

In the North East, all this voluntary work-time is equal to the work of 38,250 full-time employees over one year. And as within St. Peter's, 31% of voluntary work undertaken takes place at village or neighbourhood level.

On 27 May 2020 Prof. Tony Chapman of Durham University presented the fifth and latest edition of Third Sector Trends (Voluntary and Charity organisations) in North East England.

Professor Chapman gave a brief overview of the report before reflecting that the sector is actually made up of three sub-sectors and how each of these may fare post-Covid-19. The first video contains the full presentation, the second the post presentation Q&A session. To read more, simply copy and paste this link into a search engine.
