St. Peter's Neighbourhood Association has successfully won its Ward-aid grant application from Newcastle City Council.

The grant funds will now help support this year's Great St. Peter's Volunteer Gardener Experience. (Last year's had the volunteer-restoration of The Fish with two Heads as its focus, which involved over 40 volunteering residents).

The successful application carefully detailed the public spaces for environment-enhancing work and for which funds were approved, mainly:

  • Bottlehouse Street bus stop down to the Marina
  • The restored bench area on Bottlehouse Street
  • Riverside-frontage
  • The Fish with two heads
  • Postbox area on Dobson Street, in anticipation of the arrival and installation our neighbourhood notice board

Such was the tremendous success of the Spring litter pick on a Saturday when 27 volunteers turned out to work, the Environment and Wellbeing team are looking to add more friends and volunteers to their ranks to work on a Saturday morning, as well as during the week.

The scheduling of all this neighbourhood-enhancing work very much depends upon the number of volunteers. So please register your interest and availablity by dropping a note with your name and preferred days to come out to help, and spend time with your neighbours, to hello@stpetersnewcastle.co.uk
