Soil conditioner £12 per tonne from Newcastle City Council

Newcastle City Council’s Sandhills garden waste recycling centre on Walbottle Road in Newburn, turns the city’s garden waste into high quality soil conditioner and it is available to help improve your garden. The self-service shop is now open three days a week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 10am to 2pm, shop offers logs, compost and wood chip for both trade customers and the public. A plastic bucket sized amount of loose soil conditioner is priced from just £1.50. Forgot your bag, use one of theirs for an additional 50p!

If you have a strong trailer or open backed vehicle which can be loaded using the mechanical shovel, then unlimited quantities are available for just £12 a tonne (subject to a minimum purchase of half a tonne). Delivery of one tonne of soil conditioner loose to Newcastle addresses is available for just £27.

Logs from trees that have had to be removed and/or replaced - are available from £15 per pallet.
