It’s been another hectic week at Recyke y’bike with demand for bikes and bike repairs increasing daily. So, the way the non-profit, charitable organisation works is being adapted and staff are being brought back gradually in order to increase capacity.

All stock can be viewed on the Facebook shop page which is updated daily.

Cycling UK are running a campaign to ask for more space for cycling during the lockdown. You can find information about how to get involved here: https://action.cyclinguk.org/page/59646/action/1

If you have any unwanted bikes at home Recyke Y Bike will be even more grateful than usual for them at this point! Bikes can be dropped off at the Byker location Wednesday to Saturday 12-2.

The charity has also been inundated with requests for bikes via its referral scheme. Anyone on a low income can be referred for a bike if it helps them travel easily and cheaply (and in a socially distant manner!) or if it will improve their health and well being. If you want to help Recycle Y Bike to help people in need you can donate funds via our website.

Finally – a grant has been awarded  via Cycling UK to provide FREE bike servicing to key workers. If you’re a key worker, or you know someone who is, get in touch with Sara (sara@recyke.bike) for a priority appointment.
