Plans for 200+ new homes at Ouseburn rivermouth from igloo

This summer igloo the ethical and award-winning company behind The Malings development in Ouseburn is working towards a long-anticipated double launch.

First up is the build-start of its townhouse and workspace scheme at Steenbergs’ Yard. The site is adjacent to Toffee Factory and on the opposite riverbank to The Malings. Plans here include innovative new homes and workspaces and a new public access across the site.

Secondly this summer, igloo will be publishing its plans for 200+ new homes it wishes to build on its remaining riverside sites.  Malmo Quay next to Mariners Wharf, Glasshouses the grass bank between the Tyne Bar and Free Trade Inn, and Spillers’ Quay are earmarked for the creation of a new urban village including townhouses, apartments, commercial premises and workspaces. Existing neighbourhood stalwarts the Cycle Hub and Ouseburn Boat Club will both have homes in the plans to be announced.
