101 is the number to call Northumbria Police for any non-emergency issues such as minor traffic collisions, criminal damage or about an issue affecting your neighbourhood.
It’s an easy to remember non-emergency police number and is in use across England, Scotland and Wales.
The number is designed to make it easier for you to contact police wherever you are in the country.
You can also report incidents online, using our 101 form
When calling 101, the system determines your location and plays a recorded message announcing the police force you will be connected to.
Calls to 101 cost 15p per call, no matter what time of day it is, or how long the call lasts. This means everyone calling the police will know exactly how much a call costs, whether they’re calling from a landline or a mobile phone.
You should continue to call 999 in an emergency - when a crime is in progress, if there is danger to life or violence is being used or threatened.
