Councillor George Allison died last Thursday aged 73. Twenty four hours earlier he had been awarded the Freedom of the City for his dedicated service to Newcastle and the Byker Ward.
For over thirty years George was a popular and effective Councillor for the Byker Ward. At the Civic Centre he served as Chair of the Housing and Planning Committees. He was involved in many different organisations, all enjoying and benefitting from his help and encouragement. St. Peter's Neighbourhood Association was just one.
Many people in our Neighbourhood will miss George's friendship, his laugh and down-to-earth approach. He will be remembered fondly.
