The first phase of the Great St. Peter's Volunteer Gardener Experience starts Friday 4 August, 9am - 12 noon.
If you can spare some time during the morning to help other St. Peter's volunteers (neighbours and friends) start clearing the overgrowth on the Bottlehouse Street/Dobson Crescent corner then please let us know by emailing hello@stpetersnewcastle.co.uk. This will help us plan for numbers, or simply come along to help on the morning.
If you can or can't be there yourself, can you please help by passing word onto friends or neighbours who might be able to join the volunteers. Everyone is very welcome to lend a helping hand. There will be many different ways in which volunteers of all ages and skills can help.
This corner site, which includes the neighbourhood post box, is one of the most visible public sites in St. Peter's Basin. It is being cleared to create a new bed of flowering shrubs and bulbs. The purchase of the new plants is being funded by the recent successful Newcastle City Council ward-aid grant application made on behalf of the neighbourhood by St. Peter's Neighbourhood Association.
The site will also soon be home to the new St. Peter's neighbourhood notice board also organised by St. Peter's Neighbourhood Association with Newcastle City Council.
Similar public planting projects are also part of this year's Great St. Peter's Volunteer Gardener Experience. To take part in these future activities, please email your name and contact details to hello@stpetersnewcastle.co.uk
