A group of volunteer St. Peter's historians in Newcastle are currently researching the seven hundred history of our neighbourhood. In the Autumn they are hoping to make a presentation of their findings, many of which will astound today's St. Peter's people and many more will fill them with pride. Should you have any knowledge, photographs, maps or recollections you wish to share, then please get in touch by dropping a line to hello@stpetersnewcastle.co.uk
The black and white photograph in this section shows the former St. Peter's neighbourhood station on the St. Peter's Riverside Branch in 1959. The station was opened May 1 1879, and officially taken out of use March 31 1988. The site of the station is now part of Hadrian's Way pedestrian and cycle route running through St. Peter's.
